Industry Nine Classic hubs are the heart of your wheelset, everything revolves around them, literally. Every Classic mountain hub is made start to finish in our Asheville, NC machine shop. From turning and milling bar stock 7075-T6 aluminum for shells, axles and endcaps, wire EDM cutting A2 tool steel for pawls and driverings, to our own in-house anodization lab, every step of design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly is done on premises to our exacting standards.

Is my frame Boost or non-Boost?
Measure across the inside faces of the rear dropouts. 135mm or 142mm is non-Boost, which is what this hub is. 148mm is Boost and you’d want the Boost version instead; 157mm is Superboost, a different hub again.
As a rough guide, frames from roughly 2016 onwards are usually Boost and anything older usually isn’t – but there are exceptions, so measure rather than assume. Send us the frame make, model and year if you’d rather we checked.
Which axle standards does this hub run?
This non-Boost hub covers QRx135, 12×135 and 12×142 – so it suits older trail bikes and hardtails, quick release or bolt-through alike.
The hub shell stays the same and the end caps change, which is why these hubs stay useful across several bikes. Tell us what your frame takes and we’ll confirm the right setup before you order.
Which freehub do I need – Hyperglide, Microspline or XD?
It depends on your cassette. Hyperglide (HG) covers 11-speed Shimano and SRAM’s 12-speed NX. Microspline is for Shimano 12-speed. XD is for SRAM Eagle 12-speed. Tell us which you need in the order comments.
If you might change drivetrain later, note that HG and XD share the same end caps while Microspline uses different ones – so swapping to or from Microspline means new end caps too.
What is Centrelock, and do I need it?
Centrelock is Shimano’s splined rotor mount – the rotor slides on and is held by a lockring instead of six bolts. This is the Centrelock version of the hub.
Match whatever your rotors already are; changing standard means buying new rotors too. Choosing fresh, Centrelock is quicker to swap and marginally lighter, but you need a cassette lockring tool and rotor choice is narrower. 6-bolt gives wider choice and only needs a T25 key. We stock this hub in both.
